We had a throughly enjoyable stay. Cuckoo Barn was perfect in some many ways for us this weekend. Firstly it is equal distance for ourselves coming from Surrey and my Sister and husband from Yorkshire to meet up. We appreciated the beautiful grounds for the children to play in and the Barn’s great location for getting straight outdoors into the local area without having to get into the car. The Barn was equipped with everything we needed and more.
The Barn worked out perfectly for our needs and with the weather being so wonderful, we really did find it hard to leave. We hope to make it an annual meeting spot!
The article regarding Fort Henry was very interesting! We had no idea that such a tranquil place has had so much “life” going on there.
Very relaxing and enjoyable thank you.
PS where can we get those beautiful sofas and chairs very relaxed very impressed thank you *****
A truly delightful weekend reunion for uni pals (1968-72) We loved the outstanding accommodation, the spacious living room and the thoughtful extra touches and information – thank you Dick and Rosie!
We enjoyed local walks & pubs as well as blue sky & sunshine.
The Lodge is the most comfortable and the best we have ever stayed in!
We are a group of 5 old friends and we stayed at Cuckoo Barn Lodge in April 2016 for 3 nights for our annual get together. The property was just perfect for our group and couldn’t have been in a more lovely location. Really nice property with everything you could wish for including a lovely decked terrace which was a bit of a sun trap overlooking a delightful paddock complete with resident horses! Rosie and Dick were very hospitable and were on hand if we needed anything. Rosie has a studio on site and we all had a treatment with a local lady who comes in which was very relaxing in a wonderful setting. We ate in the local pubs – The Fox & Hounds in Exton (more fine dining than pub grub) and the White Horse in Empingham, both really good food. The town of Stamford is definitely worth a visit and we had lunch at The George in their courtyard – a real treat! Rutland Water is a short drive away and we had a delightful walk round the nature reserve. All in all a perfect weekend and we shall definitely be returning to do the things we didn’t get chance to do this time round.
We had a lovely week thank you. The property is ideally situated to explore Rutland and we really enjoyed the walks, lovely to have so many off road walks straight from the accommodation. The Accommodation is lovely and cleanliness was of a very high standard and the barn is very well equipped. The Breeze hut was lovely, despite the rain we managed to utilise it and have a lovely BBQ. We made a daily trip to the Hambleton Bakery, which is very good. The walk across the fields to Exton is lovely and the pub in Exton is a good place to stop for a drink or some food. We really recommend the wheatsheaf in Greetham the food is excellent. We will return for sure!
Excellent house. Perfect for our family – lots of space, beautifully clean …. and warm! Found everything we needed. Many thanks!
Thank you for the warm welcome and all the thoughtful items you kindly provided. We enjoyed our stay exploring the local area. 25th Jan to 1st Feb.
“A Comfortable and relaxing stay in the lovely Cuckoo Barn Lodge is just what we needed to blow away the January blues!”
Our second stay at the Barn and it will not be our last! The tasteful Christmas decorations were lovely and appreciated. Toby especially liked the welcome he received from Rosie. He was allowed to switch all the Christmas lights on and shown the “sleigh” with lots and lots of chocolate coins. The welcome treats were lovely! Your kindness and hospitality are much more than we could expect. A big thank you to you both!
Luxurious accommodation finished to a really high spec. Dick & Rosie’s recommendations have been superb + info before visit – Many thanks.
